The Inner Work of Matrescence

  • Brookfield, WI 53045 (map)

Matrescence is the deep physical, emotional, and psychological transition a person undergoes when they become a mother.

In this workshop we will:

  • Learn about the transformation that birth evokes, the rebirth of the ego, and how to embrace it all.

  • Gain a deeper self-awareness to prepare the mind for birth and identify personalized coping techniques for your labor.

  • Recognize fears and anxieties and learn about their important role in your experience.

  • Explore the way your world view and values show up in decision making, archetypal roles and relationships, and the birth space.

  • Learn how to reframe the way we think about labor sensations and its direct effect in how we experience labor sensations.

This workshop will encourage you to go to an intimate and vulnerable place within yourself in preparation for your own matrescence. It will include times of reflection and journaling. Please plan to come with a notebook, comfy clothes, and an open heart and mind. Sharing aloud is welcomed if you feel called, but will not be required or asked of you. While this workshop focuses on the mother’s matrescence experience, partners are still encouraged to join and gain a deeper understanding of birth beyond the physical.

This workshop will be led by Molly Vang of Golden Thread Doulas and is exclusive to our current clients.
